What does a doula do?

A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Unlike midwives, doulas do not provide medical care instead, they focus entirely on your comfort, confidence, and wellbeing.

At Bloom With Jacqueline, support is centred around helping you feel calm, informed, and empowered at every stage of your journey.

When should I book a doula?

It’s best to book as early as possible in your pregnancy, ideally in your second trimester. This ensures you have plenty of time to build a relationship and receive full antenatal preparation.

However, if your due date is approaching, don’t worry get in touch and I’ll always do my best to support you if availability allows.

Do doulas support all types of birth?

Yes. I support all birth choices, including:

  • Home births

  • Hospital births

  • Birth centre births

  • Planned caesarean births

  • VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)

  • Induction

  • Epidural

  • First Babies

  • Subsequent Babies

Your choices are always respected without judgement.

My role is to support your version of a positive birth experience.

What areas do you cover?

Bloom With Jacqueline is based in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Covering Chippenham, Malmesbury, Melksham, Calne, Corsham, Bath and surrounding areas.

If you’re unsure whether I cover your location, please get in touch.

Does a doula replace my partner or midwife?

Not at all. A doula works alongside your partner and maternity team.

Partners are always encouraged and supported too, I help them feel confident in their role so they can support you more effectively.

What is included in antenatal support?

Antenatal support can be booked as a standalone package or as part of a conjoined package.

It is tailored to you and may include:

  • Birth preparation sessions

  • Understanding labour stages

  • Comfort measures and coping techniques

  • Birth plan discussions

  • Emotional reassurance and confidence building

Everything is personalised to your needs and preferences.

 What happens during birth support?

If you choose birth support, I will:

  • Join you during early or active labour (as agreed)

  • Provide continuous emotional reassurance

  • Suggest comfort techniques such as breathing, movement, and positioning

  • Support your partner

  • Help you feel calm, grounded, and informed throughout

My role is to stay by your side continuously, offering steady reassurance and advocacy from beginning to end.

Do you offer postnatal support?

YES - postnatal care is a key part of my service and can be booked as a standalone

Support may include:

  • Emotional support and birth debriefing

  • Infant feeding support (breast or bottle)

  • Newborn care guidance

  • Light household help

  • Rest time for you to recover

The early weeks can feel overwhelming, and you don’t have to navigate them alone.

How much does a doula cost?

Pricing varies depending on the package and level of support required.

I offer tailored packages to suit different needs and budgets.

Is doula support worth it?

Many families find doula support helps them feel more confident, informed, and emotionally supported throughout pregnancy and birth. Research also shows continuous support can lead to more positive birth experiences and improved wellbeing.

Most importantly, it’s about having someone by your side who is fully dedicated to you.
