Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions form the agreement between you (“the Client”) and Bloom With Jacqueline (“the Doula”) for the provision of antenatal, birth, and postnatal support services.

1. Scope of Services

The Doula provides non-medical support, which may include emotional, physical, informational, and practical assistance throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period.

The Doula does not:

  • Provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment

  • Perform clinical or medical tasks

  • Make decisions on behalf of the Client

All medical care remains the responsibility of the Client’s chosen healthcare providers.

2. Booking & Payment Terms

  • A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure the Client’s booking

  • The remaining balance must be paid by 38 weeks’ gestation, unless otherwise agreed in writing

  • Payment plans may be arranged at the Doula’s discretion

Failure to pay the remaining balance by the agreed date may result in withdrawal of services.

3. Antenatal Support

  • The service includes two antenatal sessions, where reasonably possible

  • These sessions are intended to support preparation and informed decision-making

  • The Doula may provide information and signposting but is not acting as a certified antenatal educator

Ongoing support is available via agreed communication channels throughout pregnancy.

4. On-Call Period & Birth Attendance

  • The Doula will be on call from 38 weeks’ gestation (unless otherwise agreed)

  • During this period, the Doula will remain reasonably available 24/7 and within a commutable distance

  • The Client agrees to notify the Doula in a timely manner when labour begins

The Doula will make every reasonable effort to:

  • Attend the Client within approximately 90 minutes of being called

  • Remain in attendance throughout active labour until shortly after birth

For longer labours, the Doula reserves the right to take reasonable breaks for rest and personal needs.

5. Postnatal Support

  • A postnatal visit is included within the agreed package

  • Additional postnatal support may be included or booked separately

  • Additional sessions are charged at the agreed rate or pre-paid package

All postnatal support is non-medical in nature.

6. Communication

  • The Doula is available for general communication between 8:00am and 5:00pm during pregnancy

  • During the on-call period (from 38 weeks), the Doula is available 24 hours a day for labour-related contact only

Response times may vary, but all reasonable efforts will be made to respond promptly.

7. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate and relevant information regarding their pregnancy and care

  • Keep the Doula informed of any significant changes

  • Contact the Doula in a timely manner when labour begins

  • Ensure full payment is made as agreed

8. Limitations of Liability

While every effort is made to provide continuous support, the Doula cannot guarantee attendance at the birth due to circumstances including, but not limited to:

  • Rapid labour

  • Failure of the Client to notify the Doula in time

  • Illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond the Doula’s control

  • Hospital or institutional restrictions

In the event that the Doula is unable to attend:

  • Due to the Doula’s unavailability or error, a refund of one-third (1/3) of the total fee will be issued

  • Due to circumstances beyond the Doula’s control, or late/no notification by the Client, no refund will be provided

9. Alternative & Virtual Support

If in-person attendance is not possible, the Doula will make reasonable efforts to provide remote/virtual support, where appropriate.

10. Cancellations & Refunds

  • The initial deposit is non-refundable

  • If the Client cancels services after booking, any payments made may be refunded at the Doula’s discretion, minus the deposit and any services already provided

11. Professional Boundaries

  • The Doula will always act in the best interests of the Client within the scope of their role

  • The Doula supports the Client’s choices but does not advocate against medical staff or act as a spokesperson unless explicitly agreed in advance

12. Agreement

By paying the deposit, the Client confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood the Terms & Conditions

  • Agree to the scope and limitations of the Doula’s role

  • Enter into the agreement voluntarily
